Letter to future child

Image
Dear son/daughter,  If you are reading this letter, then you have just turned twelve. Happy birthday! It is 7:13 p.m., 23 January, 2022, and the roads are bustling with cars, the air buzzing with energy. I went through a huge fight with my parents recently about my life choices and how they controlled them. Through this incident, I learned an important life lesson, one that I am going to tell you about in this letter so that you don’t repeat the same mistake that I made.  After I came to my senses, I realized that everything parents do, they do it to benefit their children, not once indulging in any selfish thoughts that would compromise their children’s lifestyle.  You might question me in the future, so listen to me now, when I am a child of your age.  The world is a dark and harsh place, where parents are our only guides who illuminate our paths to success. In the future, let me help you, just like my father helped me, and you will help your child. I hope to share...

Narrative writing: The talking dog

Image
I rose out of my bed lazily, almost smashing my infuriating alarm clock. While I combed my hair, I heard a cheerful voice, “Good morning, Steve!”  Startled, I looked around, scouring my room to locate the person who just greeted me. I chuckled, concluding that I was hallucinating. I walked towards my dog, who stared at me, and ruffled his fur, “Do you think that I am going crazy?” “No, I greeted you,” he replied.  My mouth widened with astonishment, my brain racing with a plethora of questions, rapidly descending into madness, not able to come up with a single explanation. Confounded, and petrified, I let out a faint whisper, “Yo-you, can sp-e-ak?” “Duh.” “Since when?” “Since always. It’s you who started understanding me.” “How is this possible?” Exhausted by this tedious conversation, Buster scoffed, “Stop asking questions and enjoy this miracle.” Ashamed, I gently nodded my head.  “Let’s go out for a walk.” “ Woof ,” he replied. I tied a leash to his neck and left after...

Travel over time: a dive into the development of transport

Travel over time: a dive into the development of transport By Dhruv Shah On 22 December, 2021, Dhruv Shah, an eminent reporter, well-known in the transport realm, visited an exhibition called ‘Travel over the years’, held at the Sai Transport Museum, Ghatkopar, Mumbai. The artifacts were in chronological order, from the first vehicle ever made, horse-carriages, to modern-day modes of transport, like airplanes.  Dhruv, due to his prominent personality, was given the privilege of riding some of the ancient and modern vehicles. The ancient modes of transport, such as chariots, were rudimentary, made for the sole purpose of traveling, overlooking comfort. Modern vehicles, such as electric cars, covered all the travel criteria, from speed to luxury. According to Dhruv, the most efficient and comfortable mode of transport was the airplane. The airplane saves time by being the fastest mode of transport while giving passengers the benefit of luxury, including plush seats, screens for enter...

Astonishing atrocity: Old Misery’s house almost demolished by defiant teenagers

Astonishing atrocity: Old Misery’s house almost demolished by defiant teenagers By Dhruv Shah On 9 December, 2021, a group of teenagers, who are believed to have committed incipient scandals in London, attempted to demolish the house of Old Misery on 23rd Avenue, Aurora tract. If a passing pedestrian, Mrs. Geller, had not shrewdly observed suspicious activity near the house, the gang of juveniles would have gotten away with their plan. The teenagers entered the house at around one-thirty P.M., when the security guards changed their shifts, leaving a fifteen-minute window. They planned to bring down the house from inside within the short window, and then after making egress and spacing themselves from the house, they would detonate the walls of the house, leaving no evidence behind. While they were furtively destroying the house from inside, the police, after receiving Mrs. Geller’s tip, were on their way to arrest the gang in the act. The police stationed themselves around the ho...

Informal persuasive letter to convince your grandfather to gift you a mobile phone for your birthday

Image
Suresh Shah Pearl Gardens 4106 Surat, Gujarat Dear Grandpa,  I hope your medical condition has improved. Since my birthday is coming up, I thought I should tell you what I want as my present. A smartphone would be the perfect gift for me as it would help me with my academics and help me contact anyone immediately. Firstly, a smartphone has several apps to aid with my education, like Byju’s. Once I finish studying a certain chapter, I can watch a video to summarize it and solve all of my doubts. In case I have a query with some question, I could call the respective subject teacher and have it explained instantly. As a fun way to learn, the internet has several websites which encourage learning by playing games to stimulate the interest in learners, such as me, a very efficient way to comprehend the topic, obviating the need for rote learning. Secondly, as you know, I usually commute alone to all of my classes. Mom and Dad are constantly worried about me, staying restless until I ret...

Narrative essay

 Q) You are making coffee in a mug when your friend comes in and tells you that your sister is sitting outside. You don't have any siblings. Continue the story. “What in the world are you talking about?” I was perplexed, “I don’t have any siblings!”  I dropped the mug, which shattered instantly, and ran past my friend to look at a seventeen-year-old blonde girl, who sat on my couch, wearing filthy pants, an overused tee, and brown boots smothered with dirt. Freddy, my friend, winded, asked, “If she…not…sister…who is she?” Knowing nothing at all, I kneeled and gently questioned the girl, “Hello, I’m Jake. Who are you?” “I am Rachel,” she replied innocently. “Where are your parents Rachel?” “ Seth , the wicked man, kidnapped them,” she trembled with fear and accentuated the word Seth as if there could only be one man as malevolent as him. There was a moment of silence. Freddy, who was also my police partner, broke it and started babbling, “Seth, the leader of the biggest crimina...

Old woman description

Image
The woman from the Zanskar valley in the Himalayas looked pretty old. Her hair were as grey as smoke. Her face looked like it had been cut and stitched back several times. A tired look was hidden behind her eyes as if saying that I can’t work anymore. A simple smile was indicating that she was happy with the way she was living, no longer wanting anything but peaceful life. She gave the feeling of an old, almost withered flower just blooming for the final time with a sense of satisfaction and pride. She was like a broken umbrella, trying her best to survive the harsh and cruel rain of this world and standing her position but knowing that she would not last long. She felt like a torn blanket trying to comfort you but not to the fullest. She gave the vibes of a bright and shining sun after a long, cold winter night. She was like warm cocoa on a cold, rainy day. Her voice was thin, nearly inaudible, but pleasure lay behind it. It was like a distant noise of a bell, ringing far away, hoping...
