Letter to future child

Dear son/daughter,

If you are reading this letter, then you have just turned twelve. Happy birthday! It is 7:13 p.m., 23 January, 2022, and the roads are bustling with cars, the air buzzing with energy. I went through a huge fight with my parents recently about my life choices and how they controlled them. Through this incident, I learned an important life lesson, one that I am going to tell you about in this letter so that you don’t repeat the same mistake that I made.

After I came to my senses, I realized that everything parents do, they do it to benefit their children, not once indulging in any selfish thoughts that would compromise their children’s lifestyle.

You might question me in the future, so listen to me now, when I am a child of your age.

The world is a dark and harsh place, where parents are our only guides who illuminate our paths to success. In the future, let me help you, just like my father helped me, and you will help your child. I hope to share a loving bond with you, and even though you don’t exist yet, I know that you are the best thing that will ever happen to me. I promise that I will always put you before everything, nurture you, and shape you into a strong, inspiring and confident person.

I learned these things through the experience of twelve years, and I’ll go on to acquire more wisdom, as ‘Experience is the best teacher.’ Hence, ‘With age comes wisdom.’
