Difficult decision narrative story
A tall, Caucasian man stood on the terrace of the Central Park tower, in the isolated, deserted, Central Avenue. He told his son, “Let me tell you a story of an incident which took place here four years ago on this very day.”
He started narrating the story of a detective Daniel Decker on an indelible night four years ago. Daniel had learned that his son, Adam, along with other detectives’ children, was kidnapped and held hostage at the Central Park tower by Al-Bakshir, a ruthless gang.
Unnerved, Daniel hurried to the Central Park tower. When he reached, officer Falman briefed him about the situation. Al-Bakshir had taken control of the Central Park Tower and demanded their head to be released along with $50 million. Decker knew that he could not give in to their absurd demands, but the lives of Adam and other people were on the line. Just then, from the terrace, he saw Adam appear, “Help me, Dad!”
The officers had never seen the composed detective so perturbed before. Under immense pressure, the team assigned to the case chalked up a plan for a sting operation. Risking the hostages’ life, they entered the building furtively through the air ducts and terminated all the terrorists. The perplexing mystery was that all children were rescued except Adam, who wasn’t found.
As Daniel finished his story, he stared into the empty terrace beside him, the last place he saw Adam; tears trickled down his eyes as he yearned for his son.
